Latest Project

So, I decided to combine 2 of my favourite hobbies into one; Bike trials & 3D modelling. To say it was easy would be lying. But to say it's been an amazing journey, an experience & an extensive lesson, now that would be very true!

I've been modelling in Cinema 4D for about 8yrs, but had been out of modelling since Jan/Feb 2010, so for a good 9 or 10 months I had done no poly pushing what so ever..

I decided I needed to do something that would re-ignite my passion for modelling..

I had attempted trials frames before but I got as far as the main frame tube layout and lost interest & drive.. So this time, I dug my heels in, studied the frame to get a mental picture of how I'd make each part and just made a promise to myself that I'd finish this one. It would prove to be a turning point in my modelling abilities.

To provide some extra motivation I started a WIP thread over at Threedy.com so I could get some feedback on my progress. Needless to say the feedback was & still is excellent motivation.

In it's current state above, Cinema 4D is reporting about 2.2 million polygons. Thanks to my new PC, it still manages 15-20fps when the whole model is in view, and 50-100fps when I focus on 75% of the model or less.

Parts left to model are: Tyres, Chain & Chain-stay protector.. So I'm close to finishing the modelling side of things. Then the fun starts on textures & materials.
